Block Unwanted Votes with IP Blocking in WordPress Polls
In any voting system, ensuring the integrity of responses is crucial. That’s where IP Blocking in Pollify Pro comes in. This feature lets you block specific IP addresses from participating in polls, keeping your data clean and your results trustworthy.
Whether you’re running NPS surveys, up/down votes, or applause-style interactions, the built-in Block List tool gives you full control over who can vote—and who can’t.
Why You Might Need to Block IPs #
Sometimes, people (or bots) don’t play fair. With Pollify Pro, you can:
- Stop vote manipulation: Block users trying to inflate results with repeated submissions.
- Reduce spam: Keep automated scripts or junk responses out of your polls.
- Moderate abuse: If a user is harassing your system or manipulating feedback, block them directly.
- Protect sensitive surveys: Make sure feedback comes from genuine users only.
You can apply IP blocks to individual polls or enforce them globally across your entire site.
How IP Blocking Works in Pollify #
Once you activate Pollify Pro, the IP blocking system is integrated into all poll types automatically. You don’t need to install or configure anything separately.
Here’s how to use it:
- Go to any poll’s analytics view in your WordPress dashboard (Pollify > Any Poll).
- Navigate to either the Overview or IP Details tab.
- Hover over any suspicious IP – you’ll see a Block link appear.
- Click it to open the Block IP options.
When you click the Block link, it will show this pop-up-
You’ll now get two choices:
- Block (Keep Data): This prevents future votes from this IP, but retains all existing data.
- Block & Delete Data: This blocks the IP and deletes all its historical votes from your poll results.
Once confirmed, the IP is added to the blocklist and cannot cast any further votes.
Managing the Block List #
To manage blocked IPs:
- Open the specific poll in Pollify admin.
- Go to the Block List tab.
- Here you’ll see a list of all currently blocked IP addresses.
- Hover over an IP to reveal the Unblock option.
Clicking Unblock removes the restriction and re-enables that IP to participate in polls again.
How This Protects Your Polls #
The IP Block system ensures:
- You get cleaner data and fewer false positives
- Voting stats reflect real user sentiment, not abuse
- NPS and survey scores remain trustworthy
- You don’t need to constantly monitor or clean up your data
It’s especially helpful for larger sites, public feedback systems, or campaigns that attract high traffic and engagement.
Use Cases for IP Blocking #
- Stop vote stuffing on public contests
- Block malicious users from specific regions
- Clean up NPS scores from known spam sources
- Limit internal test accounts from affecting real survey results
Whatever your reason, you have full control over who can vote — and who can’t.
Why Pollify Beats Crowdsignal for IP Blocking #
Crowdsignal doesn’t offer native IP blocking — you’ll need to use external filters or export data to clean it manually. Pollify Pro simplifies this with real-time blocking right in the dashboard.
- No external dashboard
- No messy CSV exports
- Just clean, live moderation from inside WordPress
