How to Install and Activate Krom Automation Pro
Krom Automation Pro is an extension plugin that works alongside the free Krom Automation plugin. You need both installed and active at the same time. This guide walks you through downloading Pro, installing it, and activating your license key.
Before you start #
Make sure you have the following ready before installing Pro:
- Free Krom Automation plugin installed and active. Pro will not work without it. If you haven’t installed the free plugin yet, start with the installation guide.
- Your Krom Automation Pro license key. You receive this by email after purchase. You can also find it in your account at wprigel.com.
- The Krom Automation Pro ZIP file. Downloaded from your wpRigel account after purchase.
Step 1: Download the Pro plugin #
- Log in to your wpRigel account at wprigel.com.
- Go to your account dashboard and find your Krom Automation Pro purchase.
- Click Download to save the
krom-automation-pro.zipfile to your computer.

Step 2: Upload and install the Pro plugin #
Krom Automation Pro is not available on the WordPress.org plugin repository. You install it by uploading the ZIP file directly.
- In your WordPress admin, go to Plugins > Add New Plugin.
- Click Upload Plugin at the top of the page.
- Click Choose File and select the
krom-automation-pro.zipfile you downloaded. - Click Install Now.
- Once installation completes, click Activate Plugin.

Do not deactivate or delete the free Krom Automation plugin. Both plugins must remain active simultaneously.
Step 3: Activate your license key #
With the Pro plugin active, you need to enter your license key to unlock all Pro features.
- Go to Krom Automation > Settings in your WordPress admin.
- Click the License Management tab.
- Paste your license key into the License Key field.
- Click Save (or the Activate button if it appears separately).

Krom Automation connects to the wpRigel license server and validates your key. The License Status field updates to show your license as active, along with the expiry date and the number of activations used.
If the activation fails, check the following:
- The license key is copied exactly with no extra spaces before or after it
- Your site can make outbound HTTP requests (some restrictive hosting environments block these)
- The license hasn’t already been activated on the maximum number of allowed sites
Step 4: Confirm Pro features are active #
After a successful license activation, Pro features become available immediately without a page reload.
To confirm everything is working:
- Go to Krom Automation > Workflows and click Add New Workflow.
- Click Add Trigger on the canvas. The trigger list should now show Pro trigger categories including Form, LMS, Membership, CRM, and the Schedule trigger.
- Go to Krom Automation > Templates. You should now see 121 templates listed (20 free plus 101 Pro).

If you don’t see Pro triggers or the extended template library, try deactivating and reactivating the Krom Automation Pro plugin.
Moving a license to a different site #
Each Krom Automation Pro license allows activation on a set number of sites depending on your plan. If you need to move your license from one site to another, deactivate it on the old site first.
- On the old site, go to Krom Automation > Settings > License Management.
- Click Deactivate License.
- Confirm the deactivation.
You can now activate the license key on a new site following Steps 3 and 4 above.
Keeping Pro updated #
Krom Automation Pro updates automatically through your WordPress dashboard, the same way any other plugin updates.
When a new version is released, you’ll see an update notification in Dashboard > Updates or in the Plugins list. Click Update Now to install the latest version. Your license key, workflows, and settings are preserved through updates.
If automatic updates aren’t appearing, confirm your license is active in Krom Automation > Settings > License Management. An inactive or expired license will not receive update notifications.
Frequently asked questions #
Do I need to keep the free plugin installed after upgrading to Pro?
Yes. Krom Automation Pro is an extension that requires the free Krom Automation plugin to be active. Deactivating the free plugin will deactivate Pro as well.
What happens if my license expires?
Your existing workflows keep running. You lose access to Pro settings and the ability to add new Pro triggers or actions, but all automations already built and activated continue executing.
Can I use Pro on a local or staging site?
Yes. Activating on a staging or local development environment counts toward your license activation limit the same as a production site. Deactivate it from staging when you’re done to free up that activation slot.
Where do I find my license key if I’ve lost the email?
Log in to your wpRigel account at wprigel.com and go to your purchase history. Your license key is listed there.
